Cheap restaurants
If you are a little fed up with eating tapas and want to sit down to a meal on a normal sized plate then Seville also has its fair share of restaurants. Some of which I have to say are extortionately expensive. However, we are doing a guide on a budget so would I let you down? Here is a list of some great value for money places that won’t leave you feeling like you should have gone to McDonalds.

Seville has plenty of great and inexpensive restaurants.
BARRIO EL CENTRO
Bodega Alfonso X11
Address - Calle Alfonso X11 33 Tel- 954 211 251 Type of food – Andalusian
Situated near the museum of Belles Artes in El Centro district, Alfonso’s has a large menu that is written in English as well as Spanish. Recommended dishes are Flamenquin (loin of pork, stuffed with cheese, wrapped in ham and deep fried) Patatas Bravas (some of the best in Seville), Arroz Del Dia (rice dish of the day). You can have a drink here and one of the specials and still get change from €10.
Meson Serranito
Address – Calle Alfonso X11 9 Tel- 954 211 278 Type of food - Andalusian
Situated immediately behind the El Corte Ingles department store. It has a busy tapas bar out front, but the back part is a restaurant where you can eat some excellent meat and fish dishes such as the Dorada a la Plancha for €7.50

Hang Zhou
Address -Calle Mateos Gago 7 Tel – 954 560 197 Type of food – Chinese
You’ll find this restaurant right behind the cathedral. In general restaurants located here are to say the least….. expensive, however this Chinese restaurant is a little gem. Specials include spicy pork chow-main and prawn noodle soup and prices start from as little as €7 for a main course.
BARRIO DE ALFALFA
Café Bar Habanita
Address – Calle Golfo 3 Tel – 954 220 202 Type of food - Caribbean/Cuban
Located down an alleyway just of the main street of Perez Galdos lies this hidden gem. They offer a wide range of veggie dishes as well as meat and fish. Specialities are Berenjenas Habanita ( house special aubergines), Yuca con salsa Mojito (sweet potato with a spicy salsa) and mini feta samosas. Here you can get a sharing plate for $10.
Pizzeros Orsini Y Angelo
Address – Calle Luchana 2 Tel – 954 216 164 Type of Food – Italian
Situated in front of the church on Calle Luchana is this busy restaurant serving some of the best home made pizzas around. Ranging from €6-8 in price they offer great value for money. Have a glass of the house special red wine to go with your pizza and you’ll be in Italian heaven. Specialities include Pizza Roma, Pizza 5 quesos and Pizza Marinesco
Heladeria Rayas
Address – Calle Almirante Apodaca 1 Tel - 954 221 746 Type of food - Ice cream
Yes that’s right this place only serves ice cream, but it’s probably the best ice cream on the planet. What a great way after a hot day to finish with a cup of ice cream. All flavours are made locally and there are over 30 to choose from. Prices start from €2.50 for a small cup.
BARRIO TRIANA
La Oliva

Situated in the Triana district on San Jacinto, La Oliva offers rustic home cooked food at really great value for money prices. Specialities include Chiprones a la Plancha (grilled squid), Solomillo con Bacon (Loin of pork, bacon and green pepper in a fried sandwich) and Pavia de Baccalao (deep fried salt cod). The food or the layout isn’t fancy but it’s where the locals eat. Prices are around €5.50 for a “ration” (plate)
Sol y Sombre

Sol y Sombre offers your typical no frills and no fuss wholesome Andalusian cuisine and doesn’t stray far from this aspect. Typical dishes include Solomillo al Ajo (loin of pork cooked with garlic), Patatas a lo Pobre (literally translated means poor man’s potatoes, layers of cooked potatoes with green peppers and garlic) and a variety of Reveultos (filled omelettes). Dishes are somewhere between €6 and €10.
Ali Baba
Address – Calle Betis 5 Tel – 649 537 449 Type of food – Moroccan/Middle Eastern
Situated in the district of Triana in the main hub of restaurants and bars is Ali Baba. It offers a taste of the east and is small and compact. It may only have 8-10 tables but the food is great. Specialities include lamb kebabs, Shawermas and some excellent falafel. Try some of the desserts, they are to die for. If you are feeling brave you can also try the traditional Hookhas (flavoured tobacco from water pipes). Prices are from €8-12 for a main course.
Pamperito -
Address – Calle Solado 2 Tel -954 281 619 Type of food – Argentinian
Situated in the eclectic district of Triana is Pamperito. This small and friendly Argentinian restaurant is the place to go if you want a really affordable melt in the mouth grilled steak. Menus start from as little as €5 during the day.

Fosters Hollywood

Situated on the 2nd floor of the Plaza de Armas (the expo 92 site) is this American style restaurant. The portions as you would expect are huge, (particularly the salads) and because of this offer good value for money. Sharing platters are from €12 and salads are from €5 and refills on coke are free.
Bar Carlos Alberto
Address – Calle Jose Laguillo Tel – 954 537 525 Type of food – Spanish mix
Come out of the Santa Justa station and look directly in front and you will see this bar illuminated. This diner has to have the cheapest menu in Seville with a full menu del dia (3 courses with wine and bread) for a little over €5. The food is typically Spanish and specials include Arroz del dia (rice of the day)
Sakura Restaurante Japon
Address – Avenida San Fransisco Javier Tel – 954 922 188 Type of food- Japanese
Situated in the Nervion district of Seville, it offers a slightly more budget friendly cuisine than other Japanese restaurants in Seville. Specialities of the house include Sushi and spinach salad, meat dumplings and fried noodles. Prices start from as little as €5 during the day.
Fresco
Address – Calle Cuna 1 Tel – 954 293 091 Type of food – Buffet/Salad bar
Fresco is in El Centro district and offers an all you can eat salad bar for €8-10. It gets very busy so you may have to pick your times, but you can fill up and eat healthily all at the same time. There are also plenty of vegetarian options available.
