How much to tip?
Okay, so you have just rounded off your fun packed, exiting day in the city with a great value for money meal. The food was pretty good and it has come to that time when you have to pay. This begs the question……. how much do I tip?

The simple answer is that contrary to some tourist websites, it is not compulsory to tip here. Most bills already come inclusive of IVA (taxes) which are around 15 percent. Therefore I would suggest that you only tip if you think that the service has been really good and you feel like it. Waiting staff don’t rely on tips to make up their wages like in other countries as it is considered a good job with fair pay. So as a general rule of thumb, if you want to round it up to the nearest Euro then do so, but don’t feel obliged.
Taxi drivers work on the same principal, so it isn’t obligatory to tip them every time you take a cab ride. Again if you want to, simply round up the fare to the nearest Euro.
