Souvenirs
Other than a set of plastic castanets or a large straw sombrero which are to say the least…… a bit tacky, what else do you buy to remind you of your trip to Seville? Here is a short list of items that you might want to buy.
Ceramics
Andalucia is known for its ceramic tiles and good ones are hand painted. You can find them generally brightly coloured with city scenes or in a blue and white design and they are not over expensive. They are great to put on a wall and will brighten up your kitchen whilst reminding you of your stay.
Best place to buy – El Arenal district
Leather goods
Seville is known for its good quality leather and you can pick up some real bargains from purses and wallets to belts and handbags. Have a look round the markets, particularly in the Triana district
Best place to buy - Barrio de Triana
Wine
Spain is home to some of the best wines in the world, and the great news for bargain hunters is that it also has some of the cheapest. You can buy a really good bottle of wine here (and I do mean really good!) for around €10. It will probably be three or four times this much back home. Why not take a bottle back with you so you can uncork it and regale your storeys of your holiday exploits to your friends and family.
Best place to buy – Any good supermarket such as, El Corte Ingles, or Eroski. These will have a good wine section.
Turron
If you have a sweet tooth then why not treat yourself to some turron. It is a type of Spanish nougat and comes in a variety of flavours. It is generally given as gifts by Spaniards at Christmas but is on sale throughout the year.
Best place to buy – El Corte Ingles – delicatessen department.
